Say Good bye to Boring Ice Breakers!

on February 14th, 2011

Try as an ice-breaker, game, message point, friendship-builder, or lesson-launcher. We don’t care how. Just try it.
Here’s how you use it:

  1. Inflate the ball (use your hot air)
  2. Toss it around
  3. Call STOP and have the student answer the questions under their right thumb
  4. Repeat starting at #2

Some of the questions include…

  • If you had to move to another state, which state would you choose? Why? (Colorado of course so i could live near Andy!)
  • If you could try anything and knew you wouldn’t fail, what would you try? (Bungee Jumping…but I’m scared of heights!)
  • Think of somebody you really respect, and share with the group two things that stand out about that person. (Matt McCage: 1) he smells nice 2) has long flowy hair)
  • Your parents give you a choice: They will pay for any car you want when you turn 16, or they will pay for your college tuition. Which would you choose? Why? (Depends…am I 30 or 16? 16 a car…30 college tuition!)

The Sappy Love Note Starts Here:
Dear Group Workcamps,

When we met it was kinda like Junior High butterflies all over again!  We wouldn’t say love at first site but we knew we had something special as we settled into our cubicles that rainy April day.  Since then time has flown by, and what a year 2010 was!  We saw tons of new things come and go, but there was one thing that was really big for us (ie Simply Youth Ministry).  We strengthened a long-term brotherhood with you, Group WorkCamps! One of the main reasons this came about is that we sit about 10ft 6inches away from each other, and you had recently showered following the Week of Hope mission trip canceling all wafting odor down the hall!  Well that and the fact that you gave us a hand-written check yes or no [...]
