Everyone has “that kid”, and to be honest I was “that kid” to my teachers and youth pastor! Once I stuck a “rock”, more like a pebble in my ear just to see how far it would go…needless to say it went pretty far, and the doctor took my allowance for like a whole year! I did many things but I never got my head stuck in a chair as this student did!

Shane and I are so excited about the Simply Youth Ministry Conference this year. Last year was our first look at the internal workings with SYMC and the Group/Simply Youth Ministry team. All I can say about our experience is that it was, “Amazing”. This conference is unique in many ways, but the one thing stuck out to me was the involvement of youth workers from day one! Shane and I had the opportunity to be apart of the planning meetings, and they mean it when they say, “The conference for youth workers BY youth workers.” We meet youth leaders from all over the country, and saw ownership and creative freedom given to them so they can create a conference for themselves. These youth workers plan and program ever aspect of SYMC and I have never seen such a team mindset for an event of this size and scope. It’s pretty amazing to be apart of a team that truly considers its audience’s needs in ministry.

Our latest project, “The One You Need”, which we hope you have a chance to check out before the conference, was a life changing experience for us to say the least! Anytime you spend months studying and singing the Gospel, you can’t help but be changed. Musically we had more fun than we have ever had in the studio! We threw out all the “rules.” No idea is a bad idea! It was an amazing experience! But more than that, we got to spend ALOT of time thinking about JESUS, and all that He is for us in our daily lives. He is THE punch line of every song.

Because of Him we are free!
Because of Him we have the victory! Because of Him we can come boldly. Because of Him we are saved!
Because of Him we are covered in grace and mercy all the days of our life!
He is our HERO.
Our defense.
Our song.

That is Pretty much the record! The more we walk through this life with Jesus, the more that He is all we have to talk about. He is everything. He is the One you need.

We are honored to be apart of SYMC 2012 in Louisville, KY as well. The same commitment that made last years event so special is the same as this year. Hope to see ya there, it is a couple of days, March 2-5, 2012 to be exact, that you will not want to miss!
